What are Fluid™ earplugs and Fluid™ hearables?
Paxauris’s Fluid™ earplugs and hearables are a solution to why many people choose not to wear ear protection. They offer hearing protection that is easy to fit, secure and comfortable. Our patented Fluid™ technology is completely new, unlike any other ear protection.
Our Fluid™ earplug is a silicone inflatable earplug. You slip the stem into your ear and press the bulb to inflate the tip, creating a soft acoustic seal. To remove, pull the tab on the bulb to deflate the tip and withdraw the earplug. It’s easy to fit and comfortable, giving a custom-like fit every time. It’s hygienic, because unlike foam earplugs, you don’t touch the part that goes into your ear. And it’s washable, reusable, and recyclable.
However, good hearing protection means workers can’t hear, which hurts safety and productivity. And without proof they weren’t exposed at work, workers can still claim compensation for hearing damage due to after-hours activities. We have adapted our Fluid™ technology to improve the fit of in-ear hearables, which will improve the noise reduction of these devices. Our second product, a Fluid™ hearable, adds wireless electronics, giving the wearer back their hearing with transparent hear-through. Our hearable also monitors fit and actual noise exposure to prevent exceedances, eliminating workplace noise-induced hearing loss and related compensation payments.
How are Fluid™ earplugs different from typical earplugs?
Unlike other earplugs, our innovative, inflatable, Fluid™ technology provides for an earplug that is easy to fit and comfortable, giving a custom-like fit every time. They are hygienic, because unlike foam earplugs, you don’t touch the part that goes into your ear and they are washable, reusable, and recyclable.
Because they are easy to fit, secure and comfortable, they provide more consistent hearing protection.
What size Fluid™ earplug is right for me?
Human ear canals come in all different shapes and sizes. That’s why our Fluid™ earplug technology is so important for a more secure comfortable fit. However, people with a large ear canal will need our large size plug to ensure a good fit, while those with a smaller ear canal may find the regular size a little more comfortable.
Our regular size earplug will provide a great fit and be most comfortable for most people.
Our large size earplug will allow those with large size ear canals a more secure fit.
We recommend trying the regular size first, unless you know you have a large ear canal. If you find the regular size is unable to inflate enough to provide a secure fit, you can make use of our 90 day free returns policy and buy the larger size instead. Alternatively, buy both sizes, try both, decide which one is best for you and return the other one within 90 days to get your money back.
Do Fluid™ earplugs work in water?
Our Fluid™ earplugs are especially great for water use. The inflatable Fluid™ earplug generates a custom-like seal which is very secure and excellent at keeping water out of your ear canal.
Are Fluid™ earplugs safe?
Paxauris inflatable Fluid™ earplugs are safe. They meet all appropriate United States regulatory processes. The glycerin fluid used in our earplugs is biocompatible and safe. It is commonly used by audiologists to soften ear wax. Like all products however, our earplugs and hearables should only be used for their intended use.
For more detail on the testing we have completed refer to the ‘What regulatory testing have you done and what is the NRR rating?’ FAQ below.
Do you deliver to my country?
We are keen to distribute world-wide, however until we scale our production and distribution network the shipping costs to some countries may be exorbitant. When you attempt to pre-order, if your country is not on the list of countries we ship to, please email info@paxauris.com with your request and we will look into delivery for you.
What is a Pre-order? How soon will my order ship?
Paxauris is a startup, operating on the cutting edge of technology. Pre-orders are a way for us to get product out quickly to interested early customers. We are taking pre-orders now because we have limited production runs and pre-orders allow us to align manufacturing with demand. Once you have pre-ordered will we keep you informed of progress. The sooner you pre-order, the closer you will be to experiencing awesomeness.
How should I fit my Fluid™ earplugs?
Please see our ‘How to Fit’ video or read the detailed instructions here!
How should I look after my Fluid™ earplugs?
Wash your earplugs with soap and water to remove dirt or earwax. It is helpful to inflate the earplugs when washing. Store in the provided container when not in use.
How long will my Fluid™ earplugs last and when should I replace them?
Your earplugs will eventually fail and so should be replaced every three months if used daily, and every year if used occasionally. Replace earlier if there are bubbles or signs of leakage. If the earplug does fail, let the fluid drain naturally from your ear canal and wipe away any excess. The glycerin fluid in earplugs is biocompatible and safe. It is commonly used by audiologists to soften ear wax. It is also a stain remover and shouldn’t stain clothes.
What is your return / refund policy?
We think you will love our product and we are willing to give you 90 days to decide. Which means you have 90 days after receiving your item to request a refund for any reason. There are a few reasonable conditions, so please check out our Refund Policy.
What regulatory testing have you done and what is the NRR rating?
Our Fluid™ Earplugs have a Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 24 decibels.
Tested According to ANSI S3.19-1974
Frequency (Hz) | 125 | 250 | 500 | 1000 | 2000 | 3150 | 4000 | 6300 | 8000 | NRR | CSA Class |
Mean Attenuation (dB) | 27.5 | 26.2 | 26.1 | 36.0 | 36.0 | 41.1 | 40.9 | 46.5 | 46.8 | 24 | AL |
The level of noise entering a person’s ear, when hearing protector is worn as directed, is closely approximated by the difference between the A-weighted environmental noise level and the NRR.
Example:
- The environmental noise level as measured at the ear is 92 DBA.
- The NRR is 24 decibels (dB).
- The level of noise entering the ear is approximately equal to 68 dBA.
Caution: For noise environments dominated by frequencies below 500 Hz, the C-weighted environmental noise level should be used.
Caution: Although hearing protectors can be recommended for protection against the harmful effects of impulsive noise, the Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) is based on the attenuation of continuous noise and may not be an accurate indicator of the protection attainable against impulsive noise such as gunfire.
Caution: Sufficient hearing protection must be worn at all times in high-noise environments to prevent injury including noise-induced hearing loss, temporary or permanent deafness, noise sensitivity, and tinnitus or ringing in the ears.
Caution: Small parts present a choking hazard, keep away from children.
Caution: Improper fit of this device will reduce its effectiveness in attenuating noise. Consult the enclosed instructions for proper fit and please see our ‘How to Fit’ video.
