Responsibilities
- Make earplug parts and assemble them into working earplugs
- Design, fabricate, and assemble test fixtures
- Perform measurements of earplug performance using test fixtures, microphones, and various noise sources
- Perform measurements to calibrate and characterize the performance of electronic components and assemblies including microphones, accelerometers, and other sensors
- Document measurement and analysis procedures and write up results
- Order and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
Requirements
- Minimum three years coursework in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustical Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Laboratory experience, especially with electronic measurements
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work with a team as well as independently
Nice-to-haves
- CAD/CAE experience, especially with Autodesk Fusion 360
- Experience programming and taking measurements with LabVIEW
- Experience programming and analyzing data with MATLAB
- Experience with electrical tools: multimeter, function generator, oscilloscope, soldering iron
- Knowledge of microphones, loudspeakers, audio amplifiers, acoustic treatment
- Knowledge of electronic circuits and circuit theory
- Interest in audio, audiology, hearing protection, and/or hearing augmentation
