Paxauris is developing innovative hearing protection products including a hearable electronic earpiece with receiver, microphones, sensors, microcontroller, digital signal processor, and wireless transceiver. We are looking for an experienced firmware engineer to join our multi-disciplined development team.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, test, and debug firmware for audio products
- Write well structured, testable, efficient, and maintainable code
- Review the designs and codes developed by colleagues
- Select hardware components based on product requirements, including processors and sensors
- Implement communication interfaces between components
- Document firmware architecture and participate in code reviews
- Debug and improve current firmware
- Develop user interfaces and data visualization software
- Develop and execute tests for firmware deployed onto hardware platforms
- Audio and wireless system testing
- Board bring-up and testing
- Document test results
Requirements
- Expertise in the C programming language, with the ability to write C code for specific devices
- Expertise with other programming languages for embedded programming
- Experience working with device communications protocols such as I2C, I2S, SPI, UART, USART
- Experience working with bare-metal embedded systems
- Experience with specialized chips such as Digital Signal Processors
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar field
- 4+ years of experience in Firmware Engineering
- Self-starter able to work independently and collaboratively
- Located in Phoenix, AZ
Nice-to-haves
- Laboratory experience with acoustic measurements
- Experience working with fixed-point arithmetic in embedded programs
- Experience visualizing and presenting data with MATLAB or Python
- Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar field
- Interest in audio, acoustics, hearing protection, or audiology
