Embedded Software Engineer

Paxauris is developing innovative hearing protection products including a hearable electronic earpiece with receiver, microphones, sensors, microcontroller, digital signal processor, and wireless transceiver.  We are looking for an experienced firmware engineer to join our multi-disciplined development team.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, test, and debug firmware for audio products
  • Write well structured, testable, efficient, and maintainable code
  • Review the designs and codes developed by colleagues
  • Select hardware components based on product requirements, including processors and sensors
  • Implement communication interfaces between components
  • Document firmware architecture and participate in code reviews
  • Debug and improve current firmware
  • Develop user interfaces and data visualization software
  • Develop and execute tests for firmware deployed onto hardware platforms
  • Audio and wireless system testing
  • Board bring-up and testing
  • Document test results

Requirements

  • Expertise in the C programming language, with the ability to write C code for specific devices
  • Expertise with other programming languages for embedded programming
  • Experience working with device communications protocols such as I2C, I2S, SPI, UART, USART
  • Experience working with bare-metal embedded systems
  • Experience with specialized chips such as Digital Signal Processors
  • Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar field
  • 4+ years of experience in Firmware Engineering
  • Self-starter able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Located in Phoenix, AZ

Nice-to-haves

  • Laboratory experience with acoustic measurements
  • Experience working with fixed-point arithmetic in embedded programs
  • Experience visualizing and presenting data with MATLAB or Python
  • Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar field
  • Interest in audio, acoustics, hearing protection, or audiology
